How to Determine the Correct Gas Strut Length and Pressure
Calculating the right gas strut length and force can be straightforward with the right approach. Here’s a simple method we recommend for selecting the appropriate gas struts for lids, doors, roof windows, awnings, and more.
Choosing the Right Length:
A good rule of thumb is to select a gas strut that measures approximately 55% of the door or lid's total height. For example, if the door is 1000mm high, a gas strut of about 550mm would be ideal. This means you can generally think of it as using a strut that is half the height of the door, plus a little extra.
Finding the Correct Position:
Once you’ve chosen the length, the next step is to determine where to install the strut. Use the table below as a guide to see typical fitting positions for various strut lengths. If your gas strut’s exact length isn’t in the table, approximate its position based on the closest matching length.
